Yup. Said for a while they were fraud Champions.

Only a combination of Jalen being awful and Watson being transcendent made that game remotely close. Cause Bama was the vastly superior team.

Bama better at 21 of 22 positions.

It's only because the rules are so QB centric now they weren't destroyed. And even with a mediocre QB Bama kills them, or if Clemson only had a very good QB instead of one of the 10 best college QBs ever Bama kills them. Absolute frauds. Except Watson. Straight God level for him

So basically what I have read from the press is that the SEC is great because they won their playoff bowl games however you should not take the big 10's performance as meaningful becasue bowl games are not a good measurement for judgement. Also, the committee got everything right.

Basically this. I still think the SEC in general is overrated with Georgia and Alabama being better than I gave them credit for

It is also a travesty that UCF weren't given the chance at the playoffs. They beat the team who beat both the finalists so nobody can say they were out of their depth. Would they have won? Probably not but for me it ruins the legitimacy of the eventual champion through no fault of their own. We have a huge gaping gap between season end and bowl games to sort this shit out with an extra game if there's any doubt. They could have played Alabama in that period for that 4 slot. Of course it wouldn't ever happen but theoretically it's possible when there's a question mark.

What more can UCF do? Be in a power 5 conference? They tried that and the Big 12 got cold feet and cancelled the whole thing. Play a stronger out of conference? That is planned years in advance and no big teams are going to want to schedule UCF now. Win more? They have a Fiesta Bowl and Peach Bowl win in the last 4 seasons which is better than a ton of marquee schools in the same time period.

The system sucks for non power 5 schools as they can't get into a power 5 even when they want to and they can't consistently stay good because recruiting is so much harder especially when the power 5 come calling for your coach after a good season

Bowl games aren't a good measure overall because

1: some teams don't care
2: some players don't play
3: some teams are either losing their staff or using interim.

And in the case of some (the Big 10 this year). The had advantages in every single game (except Cotton, that one was a fair match up)

2 loss in conference Northwestern played 500 Kentucky for Christ sakes and still should have lost...

1 loss (barely) Wisconsin played a 2 loss Miami team that got dump trucked their last 2 games

2 loss Penn St. played a fraud team from Washington.

So congrats for standing by as USC killed themseleves. That's the only game they played I remeotely care about.

No one is sitting out of the playoffs, no one is disappointed to be in the playoffs, they playoffs are a true and fair judge.

And that judge says.

SEC: National Champions
Big 10: ZERO points in 3 years.

Well, yeah....

Cause 2 of those games were the playoff.

The Sugar BOWL and the Rose BOWL....

If we went 2-8 (and make no mistake we tried) and those 2 games were Monday night we'd still be BY FAR the best, and PAC 12 and Big 10 are completely irrelevant.

Congrats to the Big 12 and ACC for at least showing up.

SEC are national champions because they got in.

Unbeaten team beats nobody all year then loses to a 2 loss Top 5 team in their final season game. Applies to both Alabama and Wisconsin, difference is Alabama got in despite Wisconsin's loss coming in an extra game Alabama didn't have to play. Both have similar SOS on websites that I checked.

Do I think Wisconsin should have been in? Not really but neither should Alabama.

Bama should be in.....

I know fans for "some" reason (read delusion) have convinced themselves of all these magical criteria for the committee. But that isn't their job. Their job is to find the 4 best teams.... period. If all 4 teams are from one conference, great. Conference affiliation shouldn't matter, Championships shouldn't matter, SOS shouldn't matter, SoR should barely matter. All that matters are the 4 best teams in the country. Of which Bama was clearly one. And OSU and Wisky were not. It really is as simple as the eye test. Bama trucked everyone, and physically dominated. OSU got obliterated by Iowa, and Wisky looked unimpressive against teams like Michigan.

Those are things the committee noticed.

Everyone is treating THE PLAYOFF like its #1 seeds in the NCAA tourney. Those are done by merit, not the 4 best teams because 64 other teams make it, you aren't selecting the entire field. Somewhere in that group of 1-8 seeds you will have the 4 best teams. They aren't selected the same way because they shouldn't be. A 1 seed is an honor, but in the end doesn't mean anything for you winning it all, it a 3 seed was better but maybe lost early in the year to St Mary's you can "punish" then with a lower seed and they still have a chance to win it all. For the playoff you have to get the 4 best and nothing else matters because ONLY they can win it all.

I don't care that Alabama are from the SEC. From body of work they didn't deserve it. Their resume wasn't good and they lost their only match against meaningful opposition which is the same as Wisconsin except Wisconsin's loss was closer and in a conference title game Bama didn't play in.

They also have the same number of ranked wins as UCF and that's being generous imo since Miss State were only borderline ranked and USF inexplicably are not.

They got in because all that matters (or should) is who you lose to. Once again, don't give a fuck who you beat. All teams that high can beat great teams. But who do you sick enough to drop a game to.

I'll just point out that Penn State lost 2 games late in the 4th quarter to ranked teams that won their playoff games by a total of 4 points. Both games were on the road and one was a weird flowing game where it was delayed midway for a few hours. They very well could be the best team in the nation.

My point is that there are a lot of very good football programs in the country and limiting the playoffs to 4 is asinine.

It should have been Clemson, Georgia, Oklahoma, UCF. This was the ideal year to put in a non power 5 too where there was no clear 4th team.

The real problem is the format sucks. 4 is not enough teams. How many seeding upsets have we had? Quite a few. So it's clear that anyone in the top 4 can usually beat each other. And virtually every year there has been a debate around that 4th spot so the 5th and 6th teams probably had a shot too
