I notice both genders do this and it's stupid. Someone can easily steal it, the phone can accidentally fall out and they can forget about their phone and sit on it which can break the screen.

Hah, I noticed this at the grocery store earlier. Guy in front of me had his iPhone with no case just popped out of his back packet. What a dummy.

If you're using one of your front pockets for a pocket pistol then you may need to use the back pocket for either a phone or wallet. That being said, I'd rather wear a light jacket and use the inside pocket for my phone or wear cargo pants with extra pockets than put something in a back pocket.
