If that first episode is anything to go by, this season should be great. For Star Trek TNG fans, I feel like it deliberately fucked with you a little. I was all ready for this to essentially be the Reginald Barclay episode: a shy, unappreciated dude who becomes the confident, skillful man he secretly wants to be when he plays with his holograms (or programs in this guy's case). This is even how the episode initially plays it out: you feel bad for this dude for the first five or so minutes until he goes back into that simulation and freaks. The fuck. Out. And then it's just a slow reversal of the Barclay thing where Daly just does more and more fucked up stuff.

Episode 2 is hitting close to home. Damn. My late mother was overtly protective when I was younger. Reminds me of this character. Shit like that can mess up a child badly.

I think USS Callister and Hang the DJ are the best this season with Black Museum being a close 3rd. I really think Hang the DJ is the best episode of all seasons. I thought Metalhead was the worst episode of the show to date though. It has a cool premise, and the directing is excellent for what it tried to do, but ultimately what it tried to do just falls very flat.

Crocodile and Arkangel are both decent, but compared to the others they just aren't quite as good. Crocodile is the absolutely darkest episode of the show so far though so if you want that from an episode it's gold.

It's basically like a short horror movie. If you like horror movies you'll probably like it. It's really the "scarriest" episode I guess, but I personally didn't care for it. I think it's the worst episode in the whole series tbh, but some people really liked it for some reason.
