Interesting idea that came to me during an SSC discussion.

Part of the reason that platonic, mutually beneficial friendships between men and women are virtually impossible is because men won't put up with it. Not the lonely nerds who will do anything for attention, they will. But the Chads won't put up with it. They don't want their girlfriends having some legitimate meaningful friendship with another guy they don't know or aren't friends with themselves. Nor should they, because they understand the male mind well enough to know that he isn't harmless, and that ultimately he wants in her pants. He'd only tolerate it if the girl could make him feel confident that she was just using the other guy, which is what makes the relationship one of usage and not a true "friendship" (because there's no reciprocity).

Honestly, re-watching Animaniacs as an adult, I like it a lot less. I think the standards for animated humor have gone up so extensively during the late 90s that it's hard to take it seriously as anything other than kids entertainment anymore. It doesn't even match up well against, say, classic Simpsons.

BCH is garbage. It doesn't actually solve any problems with BTC. LTC is the superior "form" of BTC. But really BTC kind of sucks and is only where it is because of its name/first to market. As an actual currency it's pretty bad, as a store of value it's alright, but obv still super volatile. It'll be interesting to see what happens to it once it loses its #1 position. I def wouldn't want to be long on BTC right now. Lots of better options.

I'm not saying I would short it, but I'd def be wary of keeping old money in it, or buying more today. Once (if) it loses its position as king, there's not a lot of reason to believe in its continued strength. Its just inferior tech at this point.

There's a big difference between inferior and obsolete. And even bigger between obsolete and useless. Sure the upside in the future won't be like in 2017, but there is undeniably still upside.

It's also where the best new tech is coming, if you do really care about tech and not just gimmicks and hype.

and again I don't think it's "dead" by any means. It'll still be a while before it gets dethroned, if it even does. I would just much much much much much rather being long on ethereum or other coins with better fundamentals. This shitcoin phase that we're in right now is totally irrational/pure hype/money grabbing, so it's not like these prices are actually based strongly on value, but as someone not just trying to make a quick buck the best I can do is put money in the products I believe have the strongest fundamentals long term.

Right but most other cryptos are fundamentally tied to BTC, as much as they wish they weren't.

What has better fundamentals though? What else is working on REAL layer 2 tech to solve REAL scaling problems? ETH sure, but it serves a different purpose than BTC, and obviously you should hold it. But it doesn't mean you shouldn't hold BTC.

Maybe Vertcoin looks pretty good. It fixes the ASIC problem of BTC, and I think works with Lightning and such. However what we've seen in 2017 is that it's more likely that a good idea will be added to BTC, rather than a new coin overtaking it just because it has a good idea. Basically, Vert's "exit strategy" is to be integrated into BTC, not to replace it. It's just like tech startups trying to get acquired by Google.
