I see this was just re-released, I'm quite keen on playing it but gameplay looks somewhat dated.

From what I know its SUPER open ended and does not hold your hand or guide you, and youre going to have to play the game many times over to experience everything. Pretty sure you pick a character, and then you travel and explore wherever you want. Finish enough side quests/ plot lines/arcs and the game will start pushing you to the final dungeon or whatever
