Based on all the criticism Ive seen on the internet as a whole it seems like no one really hates it but its not as good as people had hoped, seems like it would be more of a 60-70% score.

Because the whiners are the tiny minority.

It was still pretty entertaining despite the myriad of flaws
I think its a 7/10 and when you consider Disney definitely pays off reviewers it makes sense that its so high

Because 92% of critics thought it was at least good. It doesn't mean it's a 9/10 movie

It means that a vast majority of critics at least liked it

Mostly because legit reviewers tend to review based on the merits of it being a film and not based on their own personal fandom being taken into account.

What is so disappointing about it?

I believe the movie features a lot of running in circles.

my hopes were too high. after The Force Awakens, my love of Star Wars was rekindled. I loved the new cast and I loved the ways in which the returning characters were included. The First Order was scary and competent. The resistance was resilient and impressive in its own right. Rey, Finn, Poe, BB-8, I loved them all

this new one though, it felt like it had ADD. the pacing wasn't great. Finn's story didn't matter in the slightest. I question a lot of the decisions on TFO and the Resistance's parts. The characters don't communicate with each other. There was a lot of poorly-timed comedy. There were too many red herrings. The movie was too long. There were very silly scenes and scenes that felt like they belonged in another movie

the movie isn't too fresh in my mind anymore. I'm going to see it again soon and I'll come up with a more detailed post about it, but it just didn't feel like Star Wars and I didn't have much fun with it

I know a lot of these are personal complaints but it is what it is. I wanted to like it so badly, and i don't hate it, but I walked out of that movie and almost cried. Dramatic i know

The comedy was the most eggregious misstep in the movie, I thought. Some of it was good, but a noticeable portion just felt out of place for the universe.

Many of the comments about the issue with the communication between characters, the seemingly pointless misadventures, seem to have missed the point which was that the rebellion was dying, and it didn't have enough of a central power to keep it cohesive, e.g. hope/the jedi order. The entire movie was cast to display a dying movement, the splintering that inevitably happens when different people within the movement think they know best, all driven by the lack of direction. Which is why it ended with Luke providing a bridge to that, and why the last scene with that kid was actually meaningful in a way.

It's 8.1/10 average. Just a hair below FA.
