I thought I was somehow deficient or inferior. I blame bad Internet advice for making me think this way and screwing up my self-esteem. Ive been good enough all along.

Good for you man, now move forward with your plans. Go out there, get a GF, put a baby in her, and reenlist in the military.

I mean, it's generally a good thing for yourself to always try and improve. Stagnate and you'll be left behind.

Just because you can get a gf doesn't mean you'll keep her.

Plus, doing so just to be more attractive means you might "improve" in a way that won't be genuine to you. Like, every one of those sitcom "guy hates X, volunteers helping or doing X to get a girl" and always ends up blowing it.
