He has always been gruff and to the point. Sometimes even coming across as annoyed that I waste his time with projects.

Anyway, I sent out a report on Friday to some of the leads (they're on my boss's level, directly under the guy I thought was a dick).
I was talking to one of the leads today and he told me that his boss asked him if he had looked at the report that I sent out on Friday and he said no. His boss then asked him "why not, what do you think we hired him for.?"

Nicest compliment I've ever gotten at work.
