Meh, he's very clearly a griffindor. Maybe during the Goblet of Fire he was kind of slytherin like, but I'm fairly certain the sorting hat was just confusing Voldemort's horcrux giving Harry more of the gestalt of a slytherin.

Plus, your say really does impact the sorting and he clearly didn't want to be associated with them. But I agree, the series could have done more to reveal some more of the virtues of House Slytherin. Merlin was a slytherin after all.

Overall I'm disappointed at how one dimensional slytherin turned out to be. Early on in the series they hinted that harry would make a good slytherin, and that Sirius could have been a slytherin, and there was a theme that they should put aside the house rhetoric and all get along better. Instead it just turned out that literally everyone who is in slytherin is complete garbage.

I agree. What's really ridiculous is that Rowling apparently tried to avoid that by introducing Slughorn. Who's one of the worst teachers.

Do you think that might be because the book is written from the perspective of a teenage boy with a lot of prejudice against the house? I mean, later books had Slughorn, Draco, and Snape who all turned out to be varying degrees of alright.

Maybe, but also consider the end battle where mcgonagall basically locks up the entirety of slytherin house.
