Going to be moving in with 3 random roomates I don't know in a few weeks in an apartment near my university. First time living with roomates so any tips on how to not make it suck?

Get lucky, thats all you can do.

I had one decent guy, a Kenyan who took up the whole fridge and left fish heads in the sink, a drug addict who took my plates and bowls into his room (he ended up in the hospital), and a guy who stole some shit and moved out in the middle of the night.

As soon as you find out who they are, start digging. Dealing with annoyances like dishes and cleaning up is one thing, but you don't want to have some fuckup addict trashing your place and stealing your shit.

Clean up after yourself and pay rent. All else is optional. Those two arent.

if they're not cool: get your own trash, TP, and dishes and when they ask you why you didn't clean their crap up tell them you just use your own dishes

Never had problems with roommates. Just communicate, don't be passive aggressive with things, and finally let the small stuff go.

Rig it so that your bedroom door has an outward lock that only you have the key to.

Also, home monitoring stuff for your room.

If anybody gives you trouble about anything just start deeding in the living room and kitchen. Whip that bad boy out and go to town and make eye contact the whole time they are in viewing range.
