I'm from Chicago. It's well known around there that MJ is supposed to be one of the meanest people alive. Lots of celebrity testimonials and unsettling details from ex-employees of his. People who used to work in his restaurant and gave details over how strict things were. No direct eye contact, etc.

Anyone as ultra competitive as they are with that killer instinct is almost guaranteed to be a little off.

A lot of the transcendent once in a generation type players have that characteristic along with an insane competitive drive, they often have a short tolerance for mediocrity. I guess it's what separates them from their peers.

Tim Duncan and Barry Sanders are two all time great GOAT candidate players at their positions that are universally regarded as good teammates. I usually expect most of them to be pretty arrogant tbqh

Kobe is way more of a dick imo. The last few years with the Lakers were a complete joke and he basically stuck around to cash around 4 years of legacy checks even though his body had broken down and to be an asshole to all the young teammates. If the ownership had any spine they wouldve cut him years before he retired. And Kobe drove away Shaq.

Players like that are very demanding of their teammates and are task masters. That's probably one of the reasons great players tend to not make good coaches

That presumes I care that they were the best at basketball in the fist place. I never followed the sport (or any other sport for that matter) so I was rather apathetic to both the attitudes and accomplishments of players, famous or not. The only thing that ever raises by concern is when any of them engage in illegal activity, but I feel the same way about anyone doing any other job, so it's not like I'm pulling some "they're idols, they should set a better example" by attempting to hold them to higher/stricter standards.

I think Shaq had an anger issue back when he was playing. Dude didn't give a shit about anything but now that he is retired he has chilled out very hard. Sometimes he gets triggered and does shit like this though LMAO::
