I don't get why people really think Rey's parents are actually nobodies, Kylo was clearly lying to manipulate her

Yeah. She's a Skywalker or a Kenobi. My money is on Skywalker. Either she's Kylo's sister, cousin, or was born to immaculate conception like Anakin. But she's not an orphan that was sold for booze money.

Daisy Ridley knows who Rey's parents are and that Rey is important within the already established characters and universe (wouldn't be true for some random person)

Consider in the EU that Leia and Han had twin children that were often separated and kept away for their safety. Daisy may well have been their child kept in the dark to keep her from the Empire.

Leia was also on her own without Han for a long time. She could have easily had another child and remained quiet. So much time passed in darkness. Rey and Kylo have such a strong connection. Like a familial connection.

Luke could have also fathered a child (with or without knowing) and Rey has a clear force connection with Luke

Oh, Foxx has good theories too. I admittedly went with the really obvious one, but I kind of hope it's that one. I'd rather have the simplest explanation than some highly contrived twist. Half-sister would be okay, but the others would take a lot of explaining.

The fact that her parents were nobodies would have been fine, if she wasn't so absurdly powerful or they showed that she was trained at some point, or had a training segment for her in this movie at least (replacing let's say, the contrived and completely pointless misadventures of Finn and Rose that served no purpose to the plot because they had nothing for Finn to do), as of now she's equal or stronger than Kylo who has been training in the force since he was a kid, but Rey herself only found out about the force a few days ago and basically didn't received any real training from Luke.

She in fact becomes even more powerful in the days, or hours, this movie take place, bridging any gap there might have been between her and Kylo, once again, with no real training. She learns how to use a light saber by herself, all of a sudden. Dispute having no training, and having found out about the force days ago, she's firmly light side and is never temped by the dark side (yes, the movie says she's temped, but never actually shows any effects or consequences from it).

I think it's a good way to go: you don't have to be from an important family or good circumstances to rise above and do the right thing

That said I am skeptical that what Kylo said to provoke her is the truth of her lineage. Maybe it is. It felt more like deception to goad than a reveal.

I agree with almost everything you said.
However, the identity of her parents does not affect that part of the plot imo. Especially when you consider that Kylo has Skywalker blood in his veins, has years of training, and is still weaker than her in TFA/TLJ. That's bad either way imo.

And it does a good job of showing us that the force is a part of everything. You don't have to come from some sort of Jedi/Sith/etc. bloodline to be proficient in the force.

The story of Star Wars shouldn't have to keep revolving around the Skywalker lineage.

Very true! In fact it would go right along with Kylo wanting to get rid of the old and start anew. He just doesn't realize he's the old in this situation. Out with the Skywalker line and in with the Jakku / Canto Bight / other overlooked people that have been downtrodden

Other note: I watched Rogue One last night and they had the hyperspace tracking plans in there so I'm glad that aspect wasn't totally out of left field, that tech would have been in the works for decades before TLJ. One hell of an Easter Egg
