I guess I should've died or been seriously injured several times over.

I didn't have access to a car so I was taking public transit. That meant I had to walk across streets.

Unfortunately, there's far too many people that run red lights and ignore crosswalks when making turns.

Staying alive takes a lot of attentiveness and spatial judgment but sometimes you just have to put your trust in other people and hope they'll do the right thing.

its not as extreme as you make it sound, but in a way I know how you feel. I grew up in a small town but one particular road would get busy as fuck during going to work and coming home from work hours. and no traffic light. sometimes you'd stand there 10 minutes or more waiting for a opening to cross the road. almost got hit a couple a times.

I had a near death experience involving an acorn and traffic. Didn't equate it with living on the edge though.
