So, in Rogue One, Vader wears a suit more like what we see in Empire and RotJ. He wears a pretty different one in New Hope, which takes place like 20 minutes after Rogue One. At the very end of Rogue One, we have a cool scene where Vader kills a bunch of Rebel soldiers, and then they escape on the ship from the beginning of New Hope. So I'm just assuming this is what happened between the movies.

Vader: Shit. Well, I'm gonna go change.
Stormtrooper: But Lord Vader! We have to catch those Rebels and get the Death Star plans back!
Vader: (Force throws the Storm Trooper into the void of space) I'm just not really feeling this outfit. I feel like I need to have my robes go over this silver shoulder thing. Meet you guys at the docking station in 20.
