He screened TLJ at the acamedy of motion pictures in Beverly Hills. There was the PD editor sound design Mark Hamill and a few others there.

There are a lot of complaints online that were actually addressed last night during the Q&A mediated by some dude from like la times or something idk.

Like he wanted to show Leia using the force instinctually. He literally used the reference of a Mom who summons superhuman strength to save their child who is pinned underneath the vehicle. Leia cant just fly around. It was a feat of her body and the force or whatever. It was instinct.

Also snoke. Rian talked extensively about smokes history and what he thought. Also the last one is currently being written by JJ and Taylor something I think he said.

Shoot off some questions maybe I learned something relevant from the director or sound mixer yesterday that might inform you more.

Oh heres another. Reys vision accompanied by force chants is actually EU force chants from legends that Pablo hidalgo provided. The team records that which for whatever reason Michael giacchono or whatever is part of that recording team. They mix it up to oblivion and there you go.

Did Rian mention if and when he is going to be removed from making that new Star Wars trilogy? Because that is the only thing I want to hear from him.

Like seriously, a movie is meant to tell the story, and if it fails to do that then it is the fault of the director. TLJ not only fails to adequately portray its message, but the message it is trying to get across is also terrible. He has butchered the characters, the lore (with bizarre and sometimes even universe breaking events like the "lightspeed ramming" which makes space battles as they are portrayed in the universe completely irrational), and has even failed to sufficiently create hype for the sequel.

This man has failed this franchise.

Nah but there was a lot of people talking about things that are in there for repeat viewings. That theres a lot going on that people arent necessarily even picking up on yet.

People are pretty upset judging by the amount of vitriol being spewed online. Sheesh.

Did he answer why they didn't use George Lucas' or even Mark Hamil's story outline?

In a roundabout way. Mark said that he read the script and told Rian he disagreed with everything in it and what he had Luke do. Said he had a million ideas at Rian and hoped even one or two would stick. He said he liked how it made Luke more interesting that there was this man and this legend of him who were at odds with eachother.

Mark seems to always be quick to mouth off when it comes to anything hes not particularly happy with. Its pretty funny sometimes its like shots fired. Rian did get him back at one point when mark asked why he had to be written as a crotchety old man and Rian said he had to write to marks range. Lol.
