Its tough for me to gauge since Ive only been lifting 6 months, so I dont know exactly how much muscle I should be seeing.

That was me around the time I started. I am going on another bulk again, Ive been just trying to shed off some of the fat to keep me motivated, and so I dont bloat. I doubt even if I cut another 5% Ill even look that muscular.

Trying to get more lean by lowering body fat % after a bulk.

Anyways I can do an 8 week cut, I just dont eat away at my progress.

Thats really encouraging thank you.

When I start bulking I am going to be a little more clean. Ive got a much better idea of how my body responds to calories now, so I think I need to sit somewhere around 3300 (maybe closer to 3600 if i keep doing cardio)

Honestly it depends on what you're after.

You're not fat but your abs don't look great. Idk if they'll ever look great no matter how much you lose. Your shoulders are showing a lot of growth though.

Anyway, at this point it doesn't matter imo. I cut when my my stomach actually starts to get a little flabby. Yours doesn't look any more flabby than before.

You're only 3 weeks in though. That's nothing. You've lost your water weight and will start to really see your results soon. Personally, I would ve bulked for awhile more.

Are there any better ab workouts? Ive been doing weighted crunches, ans weighted leg raises on that support ball equipment. (I dont remember what its called.) I really only two sets of abs every other day. (15 each)

If this is a serious thread, bulk for like another 5months imo. Sure, you have muscle, but not that much (honestly). So if you cut, you're pretty much just losing a lot of the weight you just put on, ie, back to square one. It's kind of a huge meme in the fitness community to bulk and cut the same 15lbs every year

Mate he wants to look good, not turn into jason blaha. If you cut first at least you'll look aesthetic in clothes and have a nice, defined jawline/face before going into step 2.

Bulking while still being a bit on the fat side will turn him into a lardball with a bloated face and 42 inch waistline wanting to kill himself after realizing he now has to lose 40lbs instead of 15.

I never said he had to gain 40lbs on a bulk lol. Imo, you should gain strength and muscle before cutting. Like, what's the point of cutting right from the start when you have no muscle to cut to? Just to look like a twig? A newer lifter, I think, should put on size and strength for awhile, then cut. Again, I'm not telling him to shove his face full of doughnuts all day but just to add like, 500 calories a day for another few months

Guys like @Pow_Pow_Punishment can probably give you better advice. Lots of people don't even do a real ab workout and just engage during their other lifts. I do 1-2 workouts a week of v up, bicycle crunches, and planks. Sometimes I'll throw something else in there to keep it fresh. It's got a lot to do with how your body stores fat though so it's hard for me to generalize with my level of knowledge.

Thats my plan. I have a much better idea now at how to adjust my diet to keep the fact off. (Less olive oil, bagels, and maintain cardio)

Alternatively I could drop cardio and just drink my whey in milk/water however Ive been finding my shakes were a lot of my fiber and were keeping me regular, as where using milk has been binding me up. (A problem Ive had since I started cutting)

A skinny guy can look very handsome, at least 100x more than a fat guy who just finished his bulk " imma powa liftah".

My routine is completely unchanged and I still continue to overload (Though Im stalling pretty bad on my Overhead press) The only thing I have changed is added some cardio at the end to help trim the fat. Ive been gradually adding new excercises in. (I was planning on starting lunges and dips this week)

Generally when I'm losing weight I employ a little less volume and isolation work because I don't expect much muscle hypertrophy and to aid in recovery from the reduced calories. To compensate I keep the weight heavy or go even heavier with fewer reps.
