trini was kind of a mix of everyone else
she was a martial artist like jason
was very activist causes and volunteer work like kimberly
and she was almost as smart as billy and basically dumbed down what he said for the others to be able to follow along.

I hated how they handled that portion of Season 2 with Tommy, Billy and Kimberly being the focus while the others were just there at times, and the badly dubbed voices during the fights. As a kid it took me a while to warm up to Rocky, Adam, and Aisha because I really liked the original characters more.
