Click the depth chart, that shows you the amount of BTC that can be bought and sold at the prices around the market price. If for example there's a shitload of green on the left of the market price, that means there is buying pressure and the price will probably move upwards. A lot of red means sell pressure and people are trying to dump and the price will move down. Today there has been a massive wall at $17,250 since like, this morning. It's not unusual to see gigantic walls around milestones like 10K, 15K, and 20K, but 17.25K is a bit of a random number. This means that either one whale or a group of whales that have a shitload of BTC have constructed this sell order for ~1200 BTC at 17.25 to dissuade people from thinking that the market can surpass it. Natural movement in the market is typically not aggressive enough to buy up and devour that wall. The theory is that the whale(s) are manipulating the price down with the illusion of sell pressure, so that the price doesn't slide upwards. I believe they are doing it so that when the CME futures market opens up they can open up longs and get rid of their wall, or even buy cheap BTCs to guarantee their long works. tl;dr some insanely rich person is playing a dangerous game of chicken with the market. very interesting. thanks for the info. <cite>Nostradumbass posted [p:892239483] in Crypto Gen...
