Yeah, I think she mostly serves to develop Thanos's character without having to put him on screen. Her talking about being raised by him in GotG2 made me hate him enough to want to see him put down in IW.

The movie ends on a cliff hanger of him getting the last stone and putting it on the glove and saying "This is going to be fun." with a grin on his face. 2. The movie ends with him wrecking everybody's shit, and them all trying desperately to hide the last Gem. I'm going with the 2nd option, because with the first. They wouldn't have much material for a 2nd half if he was already unbeatable. They need something to continue the story, and to up the stakes a lot more than normal. --- It's far better to be alive than to be dead ... Copied to Clipboard!

Thanos regularly had Nebula spar with Gamora to test their strengths with Gamora winning every match. Every time Nebula lost, Thanos would "upgrade" her to try and make her Gamora's equal. Nebula grew to resent Gamora for never letting her win causing Thanos to torture her.[3]
