If there even will be one.

- Bring back the timer for the main story mode. Add a Casual mode where you can choose to reload specific cases or day/times with any levelled progress carried over so players will never lose all of their progress in the main story
- Scale back combo weapons. There's too much focus on them now. Normal weapons should be useful too and encouraged. Something like a lead pipe should be possible to beat the game with. Those crazy combo weapons like the electric axe should be end game unlockables
- No more cities! The series suits smaller locations better. Something like a cruise ship + island resort. Or a theme park.
- Watch that Dead Rising 1 vs Dead Rising 4 video. Dead Rising was a franchise about experimenting and the smaller details. That has been lost along the way.
- Sandbox mode from OTR is great. If players want to mess around that's where they should do it. Continue with those high score challenges. This is where you can get crazy with the content and killing zombies and get players to use the strange and weird weapons. Add race tracks, golfing, killing spree challenges etc. 4 player coop would fit here too.
- Don't make Overtime Mode paid DLC again

I just basically hope for something that scales things back a bit and goes back to what made the originals special. I know there's like 0% chance of this happening

In 4? It's nothing now. They're randomly generated and you just need to clear zombies around them. Then they run away and leave behind a weapon or health pick up before disappearing in thin air. They're more like a resource to level up the safehouses.

I liked loading up survivors with weapons and charging back to the safe house. It felt desperate. So I do miss that mechanic as well.

Oh and one niggle that impacts Dead Rising 4 specifically.

Slow the zombies back down! DR4 constantly tries to force you into confrontations with them. Probably to make up for the lack of timer. Let me browse the damn stores and change clothes in peace!

One of the fun things in DR1 was messing around with the zombies. Throwing cooking oil on the floor and watching them slip around. Shoving a showerhead into their skull and taking a photo of the blood gushing out of it. Throwing a pie in their face. This is the fun element that's missing in the modern games since they're all about killing them with overpowered weapons.

There was something charming about the absurdity of using everyday shopping mall stuff to deal with zombies, Even if they seemed absurd.

I don't. Carrying people back to the safehouse was a big ass chore.

I want a complete reboot or remake of the first game.

More focus on using random objects as opposed to guns and combo weapons, etc.

Make the world really colorful, I loved how the first two games didn't look like the areas had been destroyed by a zombie outbreak, they looked just like they normally would in everyday life.

Put the game in a mall or at least have a mall or something like it somewhere in the world.

Make the zombies a little more dangerous

Bring back psychopaths.

Don't make the new protagonist try to be funny.

I don't like how much the series has become focused on grabbing powerful weapons and killing huge amounts of zombies. I'd rather a bunch of dumb gag weapons than all this crazy powerful shit like mech suits

It was hard in the first game (unless you gave them an assault rifle or a great melee weapon and relied on giving commands but it was really easy in the second game.

I liked handing a bunch of survivors guns and then heading to a boss fight. Usually the boss would get slaughtered.
