1.) Limit the number of likes per 12 hours and charge people for more.

2.) Show repeat profiles.

3.) Don't bother sorting by recent activity and don't have a "last online" section so they waste all their likes on profiles that haven't been active in years

4.) Profit!

They do do #3, atleast with Tinder Plus, and since when do you get repeat profiles? How do you know they didnt just delete and remake their account like I do?

yeah, expecting you to pay for tinder plus for features that used to be free is what makes it a scam

Since I swiped right on this hot AF Taiwanese chick sipping a coffee and then seeing that exact same post with the exact same bio like 15 profiles later

I will say the bot problem has somewhat gone away, as I haven't gotten any "come visit my cam" site messages yet.

When I tried tinder, I'd regularly run out of people to swipe on before I'd run out of likes. I got tons of matches, probably like 60% at least, but a large portion of them were bots. There were like 3 I talked to that simply didn't lead any where, so I deleted the app.

Yeah you just gotta make the most of those 3 matches. This is my first time in two years using it, and yeah it was obvious who the bots were because they'd just be super hot women with no bios or very very shallow bios. My match count has dropped, but I haven't gotten a single bot/spam message yet.

Lol I literally can't get a bumble match to save my life. I've legit said fuck it and spam-swiped right on anyone who wasn't a complete train wreck and still only gotten one match (who didn't message in the 24 hour period, but was not attractive anyways).

Both apps need to fix dead profiles, but they won't because it's not profitable.

Tinder sucks now. I installed it again about a month ago and couldn't believe how shitty it was. Right off my phone it went.

The Tinder golden age was in 2013 and early 2014 -- when they still had unlimited likes, didn't have any ads yet, and were popular enough that the volume was great. I would just mindlessly swipe right for hours while watching football and end up hundreds of matches. It was amazing.

Yeah, those years were a lot of fun. I don't really have problems with ads nowadays, I might see one every 24 hours, but yeah they basically turned it into a mobile game with the whole "wait x hours or pay for more."

I have had good success with okcupid, but I think my profile got deleted because I couldn't get back into my account and none of my recovery email attempts actually triggered emails (I'm also hesitant to use it again because I used it to meet my most recent ex and we just broke up like two weeks ago so I don't want to run into her there)

Agreed. Not to mention the "moments" feature and "last online" section. The moments were great for conversation starters, and you actually knew which users were active. I almost feel like they're TRYING to make it harder to get dates so that people spend more time on Tinder and keep paying for their s***.

Yeah, Moments were a great way for a girl to say "I'm free now and looking for attention tonight, message me." I got laid a couple of times just due to that.

Last time online was useful also, but Tinder wants to obscure their user activity now.

Surprised they got rid of moments. I recently decided to give Tinder a try again a few months ago and was wondering where that went. The boosts aren't all that useful either. And super likes don't mean anything (especially since like every chick says in their profile "if I super liked you it was on accident").

80% of the matches are bots, and they intentionally hide your profile unless you pay them. Tinder is a shameless attempt now to make money off men. Bumble is better, but you have to be a little classier to have much luck on there.

IMO, Bumble is much better than Tinder at this point.

My personal favorite is JSwipe -- which is basically the same interface as prime Tinder -- but that's a niche app that's not going to work well outside maybe 3-4 cities in the U.S.

Yeah, I either get a "Hey" or a really bad ice breaker that I can tell is from some Cosmo article like "What will be the next stamp in your passport? Go!"

But usually just "Hey."

Also, the Bumble dynamic tends to be better for guys, despite intuitively seeming like the opposite. If a girl is messaging you, you're already through two levels of clearance in (passed the physical check, passed the opportunity cost check). Even though it's more tilted towards dating than hooking up like Tinder, the time-to-hook up ratio is still much better on Bumble for any decent guy. The app is also much better designed.

it's great for guys like you who have social value

it's kind of an auto-weedout for guys of lower social value. women will always date up when possible, same as men. bad place for CE.

I'm Jewish and I had no idea said app existed -- will try downloading (live in Minneapolis, I'll probably not find much success since it's not a massive city but it's worth a shot).

Bumble is fucking me too though -- I'm a classy fam and I lowered my standards to rock-bottom levels, but I still only got one match. I read that they show accounts by number of times they get swiped right on, as opposed to factoring in recent account activity -- the result is hundreds of hot women who haven't been on bumble in years, but are still up front because people keep swiping right and bumping them up. My thumb hurts from spam-swiping just to get to some more active profiles.

Bumble might bias the results so you see lots of hot women at first, but this normalizes after a couple of hours. You can also tell the active profiles by whether or not there is a location given (in miles/km) in their profile, versus just giving you the city/area. If girls uninstall the app, it won't show the specific distance. Don't waste your time with those.

Cool, I thought you just meant it was one or the other, as opposed to both (like city/area only = active, or distance in miles/km = inactive (or vice-versa)).
