Nobody should have attacked her, but she should have been respectfully called out.
She was trying to put the guy out of a job, based on the factually incorrect view that gay porn has more lax STD requirements. I can understand why male porn stars who do both gay and straight porn were offended. She was spreading misinformation.
Obviously, that doesnt justify harassment, but people were right to respectfully criticize her statements.

See post #2. The sex gay porn stars have is the safest sex of their life. Of the thousands of gay porn stars, only a couple have contracted HIV, and it was a big deal in the media when it happened. Most actors doing gay porn arent even gay and dont do it outside of work anyway. The fact is, doing a scene with someone who has done a gay scene before is no riskier than doing it with someone who hasnt.

With the use of PrEP (and often condoms too) on top of frequent testing the risk isn't any greater than with straight-only actors. It's not like we're still in the 70's where everyone fucks unsafely and indiscriminately. You'd have to be completely ignorant of modern safe sex practices and the entire porn industry standards to even think its that huge of a problem that would require complete abstinence. Most straight guys are practically required to do some kind of male/male if they want to make any kind of living off of porn.
