Trespasser made it a much better game imo, the changes to the base game were great.

I just started another plsytbrough now. Going reaver, one of the few specs I haven't played yet, romancing dorian(which I haven't done yet), and beimg as much of a dick as possible, actively trying to get the worst possible results in the game.

I've already played through the game 5 times. It's the last EA game I actually liked too.

That's the one game I really wish I liked more than I do. I got maybe like halfway through it way back when and just couldn't deal with the awful open world stuff anymore. There is some real good in it, but every time I try to start it again I just can't make it. I even bought all the DLC when it was on sale and couldn't do it.

No, the final dlc/story conclusion. It changed a lot of things in the game, lots of quality of life stuff, and had some great story content.

The trick is, you really don't need to do most of the open world stuff. Once you're the right level for the next area/story quest, leave.

Yeah, pre trespasser it was ok, but trespasser made it much better to play. It changed the skills for every class and spec, and added these gameplay modifier things.

Inquisition references events from 2, and the main character from 2 shows up for a story quest, but largely you can skip 2.

The game felt bloated and empty at times to me. Then Witcher 3 came out and basically whipped it dick out and made Dragon Age it's bitch.

I enjoyed certain aspects of it though. The part where the castle is attacked, the part where you wonder in the snow to a song. The part about making some awesome military decisions and seeing them play out was awesome. But I felt like the main villain lacked a lot.

He appears destroys the first castle, and then kind of screws off. Also, he was incredibly anti-climatic and lame in the end.

The "reason" is because it is a really really good game

Honestly the only reason it gets hate at all is because it was made by Bioware. If it was made by CD Projekt then it would be widely considered one of the greatest games ever made.

I mean, it definitely has its faults and people should rightly criticise how they did the open world (if only so they fix it in the next dragon age game and Anthem) and the "main villain" is pretty meh and comes from a dlc from the previous game many might not know. The side villains felt better than the "main one" tbh.

But the story and characters otherwise are just fantastic.

You say this like it's a bad thing but he's very tied into the law.

It's not really any different to just introducing a new villain.

I know that Inquisition is pretty lacking when it comes to certain elements, but that doesn't stop me from dropping 40 more hours on another playthrough every few months.

I will say, though, that it's downright maddening how mod-unfriendly it is. There are parts of the game where areas just refuse to load because you have an eye texture mod or some shit like that.

As far as lore is concerned, all three of the DLCs are gamechangers but Trespasser adds a little to the base game, if you romanced Solas it will give you closure, sets up the plot of 4, and tells us in no uncertain terms where the next one will be and I've always been curious about that place.

Might be some of that, but I do know that some games essentially make their hairstyles 'unisex' to save coding and rendering time on the hairstyles.

Oh, and I do own the DLC. I bought the GOTY edition of DA: I, which contained all of the DLC, when it was really cheap. However, I didn't want the entire game on my HDD, as the bloody thing's massive, so I only have the disc install. I may just install from disc and then download the DLC for the game.
