5 days later and...yup...nothing's happened.
What a shock.

Aside from...
1) A rocket fired into Israel from Gaza, which Israel responded to by bombing two Hamas outposts
2) Palestinian protests that have resulted in at least one dead and several hundred wounded
3) A major Hezbollah rally in Beirut, with the leaders agitating for another major uprising.

So yeah, a bunch of really "positive" developments that were totally worth what Trump got from the deal. Which is nothing.

Sounds like a typical week in that region.

Well, if that doesn't convince you, the Palestinians have now issued a statement that they will no longer negotiate with US involvement in the peace process. Claiming that America is no longer fit to oversee the peace process due to being an unfair negotiator, Abbas has appealed to the UN to take charge instead.

So... yeah. There's where Trump's move got him - a major loss of negotiating leverage in a conflict where the US had long been seen as a steady and calming influence.

Still haven't seen any upside to this "deal", BTW...

So they want one of the most anti-Israel organizations in the world to negotiate the terms between them and Israel. Good for them, let's see how that works out for them.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_Nations_resolutions_concerning_Israel
The following is a list of United Nations resolutions concerning Israel. As of 2013, Israel had been condemned in 45 resolutions by United Nations Human Rights Council. Since its creation in 2006the Council had resolved almost more resolutions condemning Israel than on the rest of the world combined.

As opposed to one of the most Pro-Israeli groups in form of the US?

I mean, that's kind of the issue. In doing this, Trump has forfeited what little claim the US had left to being a fair and unbiased negotiator and made the Palestinians effectively terminate the US's role in the peace process.

And I feel once again that this was done for absolutely no gain for the US. For all his crowing about "getting the best deal possible", Trump sure is terrible at making good deals.
