There's where Trump's move got him - a major loss of negotiating leverage in a conflict where the US had long been seen as a steady and calming influence. In doing this, Trump has forfeited what little claim the US had left to being a fair and unbiased negotiator and made the Palestinians effectively terminate the US's role in the peace process. And I feel once again that this was done for absolutely no gain for the US.
