Video quality so high you can see every little hair on a woman's lip. Gross.

And it's only gonna get worse. Soon we'll be able to see into their grease fuckin pores.

While I, too, dislike Heidelberg, calling it an 'abomination' is somewhat over the top, don't you think?

Why not? I can understand not caring about 4k or something, but 1080p was such a leap over 480p even older movies on remastered on Blu-ray look stellar. Awhile back I watched 2001 again on Blu-ray, absolutely gorgeous movie that has aged beautifully. Vertigo was somewhat recent too and it looks great even being black and white. I watched Ben Hur awhile back and the combination of both the HD as well as the digital remaster in general made it so much more beautiful to watch.

I dislike the way it gives things a glossy look. People look like Barbie and Ken dolls rather than actual people. Your eyes don't see in high definition. Characters shouldn't be presented in high definition.

It's a stumbling block for suspension of disbelief. They may as well be animated characters.

The human eye is different from a camera lens. Yes, if you look closely at a person, you can see their nose hairs, the tiny bumps on their cheeks, etc. But the people don't have a glossy sheen or have a silvery gray tint to them.

I mean I like it but not one of the people that are "HD or nothing at all"

My cable is non-HD for example, no interest in spending extra $$$ for it.
