When I job search I send anywhere from 5 to 8 applications out a day

One tip: have some idea about what job you want, and weed out applications for jobs you don't want

if you don't really wanna work at a retail store, for example, there's no point in taking 50 mins out of your day to complete those bullshit personality exams and stuff

Just keep filling them out until nothing new is visible, that's what I do.

as many as possible. treat it like you're trying to get into med school. you apply to an obscene amount of places so at least 1 gets back to you with a maybe.

christ. so i have to write a full page cover letter tailored to each specific job? this is literally going to equate to over 100 pages written for maybe 5 interviews at best.

Just write out one cover letter and replace the company name

You shouldn't have to alter the cover letter too much, if you do that means you're not keeping it general enough.

cover letters should be general enough that you can switch names out, maybe write a paragraph at most

but yeah man, that's how it be. part of it is just putting that work in/.

This, as well as exaggerate or outright lie on the resume. You noticed how tons of companies demand a shitload of experience you can't have? Just lie, fuck it. You're screwing yourself by not applying at all, and you might as well throw that dart and see if you get lucky.

Yeah, like I don't think there's any harm to slight exaggerations on your resume

For example, when I first started applying to jobs, I had on my resume that I am "fully proficient in all Microsoft Office Suite applications"

I only knew how to use PowerPoint and Word, a little Excel

they might ask for 3 years experience, but uni counts as experience so long as you did a real degree like something in STEM, Law, Accounting, maybe Business, etc.

certifications like CCNA count as experience as well

Something dumb like womens studies wont count as experience though

Who would be applying for those shit jobs if they have 3 years experience? I'd figure it would just be new grads.
