Current Events > I know I said 'no more', but I took in another rescue. Last one this time.

Last night I was making a few calls to people I worked with when I was rescuing large breeds. Calling to catch up, tell them Happy Thanksgiving, see how they are doing....one of them told me that she was having trouble finding a home for this female who she was worried would be put down soon.

The dog wasn't abused that she could tell, but was neglected and left out to eat, sleep, and live in the same cage that she pooped in. Well, I talked to my wife since we had both agreed to not take anymore in with my health deteriorating and we agreed to take this one in, maybe find her a new home after we get her back up and running.

She is a cuddle monster. She is just so happy to be loved on and pet. After her first bath in....who knows how long, she curled up and just laid in front of the heater and then at bedtime she jumped up and slept right next to me. We haven't come up with a name yet but so far I'm glad we took her in. This would have been a sad one if she was put down.

Right now just 3. 2 pets and this rescue. At our peak we had 23 rescues and 3 pets. Overall we've taken in close to 400 now. We have really high numbers because we didn't take in small breeds for the most part. We tried to take in breeds that other people were afraid to take in or simply unable to take in.

aww, my 14 year old boy passed away in Sept and I really want another one. ;_;

My brother and Sister- in Law Got a rescue last saturday, and she is very sweet, but very timid, and probably was abused.

Poor pup seems to have a chest cold....started some antibiotics to help, hopefully she'll be able to breathe easier when sleeping tonight. Last night was a little rough with her breathing in certain positions. Her right eye is opening a little more already, doesn't seem to be damaged it was just sealed closed by a build up of gunk. Her coat immediately looked better after her second bath and her bumps and sores have all started to heal up without the fleas munching on her.

Overall she is doing a lot better. She loves my kid and my 2 dogs have taken her in and cuddle her.
