There was some change that you have to make in a file that allows it to run on multi core processors. It's worth getting even if you can't get it to run, just to use for the Tale of Two Wastelands mod.

Is that like the Baldur's Gate Trilogy mod? Where it ports the campaign of the first game into the second game?

Any version from an online distributor has GFWL stripped out. Physical copies would still have it, but like I4NRulez said, there's mods to remove it.

And yes, Fallout 3 is worth getting. Tons and tons of mods for Fallout 3, and I thought the actual world was much more interesting to explore than NV.

Yeah. The Fallout 3 content is running on the New Vegas engine and the game begins with you being born in The Capital Wasteland. There's a quest where you repair an automated train system that takes you to the Mojave where your character gets a job as a courier.

That's cool. Is it compatible with Steam versions?

Yep. You just launch New Vegas normally from Steam. All it needs Fallout 3 for is the actual assets, not the .exe or engine files. I did it with a retail copy of Fallout 3 and NV on Steam.

FO3 and NV are both on my backlog. If I ever get around to them, maybe I should use that mod and knock out two birds with one stone.

I did really enjoy playing the Baldur's Gate series as one big adventure with the Trilogy mod. Made the transition from BG1 to SoD to SoA relatively seamless.

What pisses me off about the whole thing is Microsoft never even ported any of the GFWL games over to the windows 8/10 store.
