But scoring a game meant to be an adventure with minimal, understated (and imo poorly adapted) piano pieces is a pretty shit move

It doesn't fit with the game

The game is like an 80 hour experience. I think people would go crazy if the Zelda theme looped while walking around the overworld. The piano cues fit the game great. When you're doing more the music amps up.

Nintendo's music this whole gen has been pretty meh

Look at the newest Mario. It's fucking Mario so you expect a great soundtrack but there were multiple occasions were I had to stop and go like "why is there no music here?"
