The only one who profits from killing it are the ISPs

And normal people are against net neutrality... why? Because they got told that net neutrality was a liberal thing and that Obama supported it? Is that it?

The average person is dumb. They were told it is bad and that is good enough because why would their politician lie to them?
Properly implemented, net neutrality doesnt cost(potential lost profit is not a cost) isps anything unless they try to violate it.
ISPs being against it is completely reasonable, theres a lack of competition so without protections, they could do things to make extra money that would never work in a competitive environment.

The laws they're trying to repeal are really new. Apparently they were introduced in just 2015.

before the laws were laws, they were just they way the internet worked. it wasn't codified, true, but that doesn't mean that the internet in 2018 will be like the internet of 2008.

they want these laws gone and the ideals behind them, too

im not convinced that laws implemented in 2015 were needed to keep the internet open the way it has been since the start. i'm beginning to think that the people most vocal about these laws are just secretly gunning for nationalization of the internet, IE to treat it like a utility provided by the federal government.

I wish you were right about them not being necessary, but when telecoms tried to go around decades of protocol, it became necessary to codify some things.

Net Neutrality is not, and has never been government overreach. it's the equivalent to not having every road be a toll road.

while that's true, the internet was always under Title II Common Carrier regulation until 2002/2005, when Cable, Wireless and Satellite got into the Internet business and got the FCC to reclassify them (and DSL) as Title 1 Information Services. that lasted 10 years, until 2015, when they were re-classified as Title II and the Open Internet Order set 3 Net Neutrality Principles in stone, backed by the force of law

Which is a hell of a lot more then a local election in what is now a blue state.
