I wind up buying too much; I'm addicted to sales and being "thrifty" even if I don't need it. I have to start disposing of old clothes because I binged on one too many J. Crew sales, and I have waaaaay too many backup pairs of sneakers (which is funny because I almost exclusively wear boots).

Depends. If it's something fairly basic, not really. But for clothes made by my tailor, it is a very good feeling.
