I say my bad. It's legitimate, but that's just how I talk in general.

I say things like "legit, bro, chick, my bad" and similar things as just a general way of speaking, so people who know me know that's just how I talk and that I'm legit apologizing when I say stuff like "my bad"

I'm not really fond of making arbitrary definitions of what it takes to "be a man". Being a man shouldn't have anything to do with a set of ideals, it's either your biological sex or your gender identity that's referred to. Not "living up to <x> arbitrarily defined qualities".

I don't see any positive effect of tying arbitrary qualities to gender, regardless if the origin is primitive notions of a stereotype or not.
Being able to apologize isn't in any way a prerequisite to "being a man", it's a part of "being a decent person".

I'm saying that I am not necessarily making that association either and that by recognizing that we're talking about the same thing, a simple substitution of language should ameliorate the miscommunication for the time being. Keep in mind that the audience, let alone the people who are guilty of displaying the inabilities, would recognize the sentiment as the same thing as you and likely are the type to take that gender characterization to heart as well.
