Or basically, what led to the huge and utter downfall of em, and why companies stopped having em?

They do suck, but we still have stuff like ,micro transactions, overpriced dlc, loot boxes, etc. So why did online passes go away, while we still have the other stuff that infuriates gamers?

the passes were to block used game sales & piracy and they pissed ppl off while not being very profitable.

on the other hand, while ppl like to complain about microtransactions/loot boxes, they still generate millions upon millions of dollars because a ton of people buy em
