It's pretty much impossible to catch up at this point through 700 episodes. They need to make a "Kai" version of it (like Dragon Ball Kai) that cuts it at least in half, if not more. Make the whole series last like 200 episodes, that would be perfect.

It's not impossible to catch up. It just takes a really long time. The One Piece anime has a low filler percentage, but I think it's worth it.

Alternatively, you could read the manga instead to catch up. The anime has some pretty good comedy sometimes, though. There are also some things in the manga that are fleshed out better in the anime.

There are less filler episodes now but they add awkward filler scenes and stretch things out with no regard for pacing. I can't watch the anime any more.

If you want to experience one piece, but don't want to waste time, the only option is reading.

I'll second this. It's like Dragon Ball Z era pacing. I wish One Piece did utilize filler arcs, even if it meant doing an alternate universe thing like some Bleach filler and Naruto filler did.

Sometimes the anime destroys a whole point of the manga for the sake of stretching out scenes. It's garbage.

Spoilers

- Whitebeard taking a knee during his fight. It negates his whole theme in the manga of being so goddamn tough he doesn't flinch or fall even in death.
- Luffy's King Kong Gun clashing with Doflamingo's 16 Holy Threads. In the anime they stalemate for a while, but in the manga Luffy just destroys him with no resistance.

One piece is only like 15% filler episodes.

There's lists online of which of the episodes are filler.

If you really want to catch up from start, I'd suggest switching between watching the anime, reading some of the manga, and watching YouTube discussion videos on some of the major plot points and fights and shit.

That way, you can get a good idea of what's worth watching like kickass fights, really emotional plot points, etc and reading other information that is just kinda like info dumps, exposition, and stuff like that. Then get a good idea of anything you may have missed or not fully understood.

That way you can mostly catch up in about a month or two (maybe more or less depending on how much you decide to do what.)

Then you can read and be current with the manga as it comes out, and maybe watch more bit by bit.

It just wouldn't have any of the fun. No music, no colors, no funny voices and comedic timing... what's left?

I definitely like watching the anime better than reading the manga in this case. The anime is really good. The pacing does suffer a lot, but I still think it's better than the manga.

Exactly what the creator intended. Although, I don't want to downplay that the one piece anime has a really good OST.

They already did a special called Episode of East Blue but I hear it's trimmed down a lot to only include the key scenes.

It is really hard for people working in an unofficial capacity to trim down non-filler stuff because seemingly inconsequential stuff in the series often comes back and matters in the distant future.

One Pace is a panel by panel adaptation though, so it wouldn't affect anything in later episodes.

Exactly what the creator intended. Although, I don't want to downplay that the one piece anime has a really good OST.

It lost its luster after Funi took over.

I'd say to just watch a few minutes of an episode and if it doesn't seem interesting then skip to the next one, lord knows they show what feels like the whole previous episode before an episode starts anyway so you won't miss anything good. I know I felt Skypiea and Enies Lobby went on way too long and if like half the shit in them was cut then I wouldn't have enjoyed them any less. I feel like the series tries to make every arc into some epic Lord of the Rings type journey by making it take forever and adding background to literally everything and it makes arcs drag on forever with no real payoff for all of the time spent on it.

...THERE IS NO FUCKING PART 1. It's one continuous piece! That's why it's called "One Piece"!

After the Whitebeard War arc, there's a two year timeskip, then the crew pass into the New World. I believe that's what Villain is referring to when he says a "clear part 1".
