Put yourself in her shoes for a moment. Your a princess, not a queen. No real power but a title that does not allow you much for freedom. Your one of the few human looking people in your kingdom filled with nearly identical looking mushroom people.

Your only real friends are the mushrooms, a dinosaur, a plumber, and his kinda dorky brother.

You have been princess for as long as you can remember, you never age, you never die, nothing ever changes. Life is hell. All this responsibly but no freedom and no way to make any meaningful changes.

You live in a crazy world with magic and tons of crazy creatures and sights to see, but you can't experience anything else outside of your castle.

Bowers offers an out for all that. Of course being the princess you can't just go along with it, It's not proper, you need to act like you want to escape.

But really, deep down, Bower is the only one who cares and Peach knows it.

King Toadstool... no queen was ever shown to my knowledge.... but if she was a mushroom and peach human like it's possible she died giving birth.... as grim as that is.
