Yes. The president should be someone we aspire towards.
That doesn't necessarily translate to book smarts. In fact, it often doesn't (which is to say we don't usually elect people because we think they are smart). But it does mean: knowing the difference between what you do and don't know, knowing your weaknesses, knowing how to hire people to cover those weaknesses, appreciating several kinds of nuance, knowing how to adapt political strategies to suit changing situations, understanding the passive influence you exert on the many systems (legal, economic, diplomatic, international) that surround us as a nation, and knowing how to reassure people in difficult times and get people moving forward again.
