Madden is garbage anymore these days, anyway. You have to know how to read a defense to play the game now. Not only that, but you gotta memorize all the button combinations for passing and running...it becomes a god-damned chore.

Whatever happened to picking up a game and playing it? There's something to be said about keeping things simple.

Yeah, NFL Blitz was a blast, especially when they brought it to consoles and you no longer had to pay $2 per game.

I've gotten my football fix from updated Tecmo Super Bowl rosters these days. Much more enjoyable.

I mean I don't care what the multiplayer status is of a sports game that I bought for $5. I'll buy it for $5, play through the story, then throw it in the trash. I actually really like sports movies and it reminds me a lot of one.

I actually heard the story mode gameplay kind of sucked because you can only control your character (not sure if true or not) but I'm still interested.

They didn't shut down Madden 12 last gen servers until earlier this year.

And he can just get a 1 month sub to ea access once they put it up after the super bowl.

Eh, I like the complexity of simulation football and having to read defenses. You don't really have to be an expert at reading defenses, but there are somethings you should understand like man vs zone, understanding where the open spot on the field will be if a blitz is coming, etc.

Helps a ton in the passing game to be able to anticipate the proper throw.

I really wish EA would release the rights..or not renew...Open up the world to some more arcade or less serious type of NFL football games.

I still hope that they will do this one day.

But problem seems to be they actually change the game / add new features and such to every release which isn't always possible with a persistent release.

And in 5 years when the graphics are garbage and the only way to improve on them is to use a newer version of the engine, and the newer engine doesn't support some old functions, how do you fix that?

There are a bunch of other arcady football games. The only problem you're going to run into is that none of them are NFL licensed.

Basically EA has started thinking about doing what everyone has said they should be doing with their yearly sports franchises since online gaming came to consoles. Albeit with dlc or paid updates as opposed to a subscription model.

Several people tried and it failed every time. Gamefly, onlive which later got bought by Sony, and Nintendo is next on the list of people to try but it hasn't started yet
