Yep. I'm in college there and it's been going on for about a month now. The rough contents are that the part time-profs here don't get automatic wage increases to account for inflation like the full timers do.

Both sides sat down to talk on the 6th, so we were starting to become hopeful, but sadly nothing happened beyond the schools asking the profs to teach again, and the profs demanding they get all the money.

Yeah. Sucks for the students cause they aint getting their tuition back, some might not have a winter break to make up for lost time, and while the strike is going on people with co op had to stop it so theyre not getting paid either.

Damn, that's rough to hear. What are the students all doing? Going to other places? Or just having the time off?

I'd be so fucking pissed unless I got an A in all my classes due to an easy test because of this trash

How is it even legal for students to not see some tuition reimbursement?

There's another(final one before christmas officially, but i doubt that's true) meeting taking place next friday. I'm in a weird limbo now where I want the strike to end asap, but not within a few days of that meeting since it would mean school right up until christmas eve, which screws up my travel plans.

I remember being in school when they had a teacher strike in the 90s. School was out for about a week while they settled it, but they just added an extra week on to the end of the school year.

Yep the college down the street from my house has been empty since.

Less traffic on my way to work so I'm happy. Sucks for the students though that money is wasted.
