In the H&M near here, the women's section is the entire 1st floor and half of the 2nd floor. The men's is just half the 2nd floor.

It's not that men don't want variety. They just don't care. For example, I needed a Winter light jacket so I went to Macys. Walked around for 5 mins and got a simple Jacket and walked out.

Women are more willing to spend money on clothes than men. I still want to look good though

As men, we really only get a few choices because we're expected to dress a certain way for certain occasions. Can't really do much with trousers and a button-up besides mess with a limited selection of accessories which will just make you look like an obnoxious hipster.

Women are expected to dress a certain way, but the range of what is acceptable is much larger in comparison.

Women's clothing also tends to be much thinner, so they are expected to, for example, "layer" shirts if they require more warmth than is given by one paper-thin shirt.
This is somewhat unrelated, but women's clothing rarely has functional pockets either.

There is a larger variety of womens clothing and women buy more clothes. Thats pretty much it.

Men don't know how to dress themselves as well as women do, so they get more options cause they'll actually use them.

because men have more rules when it comes to fashion. seriously, just think about the basic office attire and how oppressive it is towards males. men have to wear a suit, tie, button down shirt and nice shoes. what do women have to wear? something "professional" which can literally be anything that doesn't show too much cleavage or leg. that's it. for over 100 years men have been pretty static when it comes to business fashion. small changes yes, but nothing that approaches the variety of options females have

For the most part, men don't care as much. They'll have an idea of what they want and then they'll buy the first decent thing that's the closest to it. They don't enjoy spending hours trying on different things and deciding between a dozen very similar pieces.

most men just reach their hands and dress in what they can grasp.
meanwhile, other women beside me take 4 hours to decide which of the two identical but slightly diferent color shirt they should put on.

Women buy more and visit more often as such the stores would naturally cater to them more.
