Granite does split extremely uniformly though, which means after the cleavage line is created it would require comparatively little work to smooth it out. Plus, there is a wealth of historically dated carvings in tombs and ruins that show many of the crude but effective tools they used for stoneworking. As well, it would be weird for them to have advanced technology but no note of it in hieroglyphics or archaelogical evidence. We do know they had the most basic ironworking capacity available to them, though. Also, every cut would be managed by a quarry master who would direct where to drive the drills and wedges. Only he would need any specific knowledge on how to shape granite for the large cuts, and smaller work would be managed by tradesman and journeymen. Granite does split extremely uniformly though, which means after the cleavage line is created it would require comparatively little work to smooth it out. Plus, there is a wealth of historically dated carvings in tombs and ruins that show many of the crude but effective tools they used for stoneworking. As well, it would be weird for them to have advanced technology but no note of it in hieroglyphics or archaelogical evidence. We do know they had the most basic ironworking capacity available to them, though. Also, every cut would be managed by a quarry master who would direct where to drive the drills and wedges. Only he would need any specific knowledge on how to shape granite for the large cuts, and smaller work would be managed by tradesman and journeymen.
