I spent all summer hoping they would have the balls to kill EVERYONE. and then do a whole season with just Ollie and his son, living in grief. then maybe they can do a mystical "let's bring them back to life" story arc in the next season. but no. they fucked it up. they had the entire island explode and somehow only one person died. wtf

They did the same with The Flash. We were about to get Flash Point, and then it lasted like maybe 2 episode and the only thing that came from it was Cisco being a dick to Barry, and Caitlin getting powers.

It would have been nice if Flashpoint lasted like half the season, and then it slowly get's back to normal. Supernatural also pulled the same shit too. Dean dies, get's turned into a demon. Then. get's brought back to normal 3 episodes later.

Thea was in like three episodes last season. Ya'll blew up an entire island, someone important should be dead.

The DC shows are so damn afraid of straying too far from the formula for the most part.

Little bit, yeah. All the DC shows and Supernatural do this. iZombie has managed to switch it up quite a bit so far though.

Yeah iZombie actually has changed things up in the last season and again for the next one. It's crazy.

But damn it's a shame we probably won't ever get something like a season long arc of Flashpoint in Flash. Or something like Knightfall for Arrow. It's always the same dynamic of some villain working in the shadows and a bunch of sub-villains to beat along the way. At most any drastic changes last an episode or so until the status quo returns.

I'm currently rewatching Smallville on Hulu and it does the same thing. Something major happens and by the end of the 1st episode of the next season it is sorted out. Just started Season 6 and the Zod/Lex thing was done pretty quickly.

Ra's story was OK, but he was pretty lame. Also, Merlyns plan was just riddled with dumb.

Drug my daughter and trick her into killing Ra's daughter lover in order to hope that he won't want to kill me for the Undetaking. But, then act like Oliver getting curb stomped was my plan the entire time. I was like "......What?" when he pulled that shit.

I did kind of like Prometheus, But he fell kind of short after awhile.

As gloriously stupid as Gotham is, I will say that their version of Ra's al Ghul is unequivocally better.

How different is Gotham's version compared to Arrow's? All I remember from Arrow's version was that he would threaten to kill lots of people, and then not follow up. It would introduce a threat and then not really follow up with said threat.

Darhk was cool because the actor made him work. It was like he KNEW he was a villain and loved every min of it.

I don't know the comic character, but he matches the DCAU version quite well. He's only been in a few episodes so far, but he's followed through on all the threats he makes. Up to and including killing a child.

From what I caught of a random episode he's apparently the head of the court of owls in Gotham which is a departure from his comic origin of being an ancient immortal that grew to hate humanity after being betrayed by the prince he worked for

That's the one thing I have a problem with Gotham. They ran out of interesting things to do with the mob BEFORE Batman shows up. So now they're pretty much introducing all of these villains years before he becomes Batman. Which is kind of odd. Unless in this world, Bruce Wayne doesn't become Batman. But Jim Gordon does. Still feels odd that they keep escalating all of these threats that pretty much require somebody like Batman to show up.

I just let it go three seasons ago when Hugo Strange was so gleefully making supervillains.

In Gotham, the Court of Owls is essentially a subgroup of the League of Shadows/Assassins. Ra's is still an immortal warrior with a Lazarus Pit though he isn't betrayed by a prince or anything.

Makes sense. I do wonder how the GCPD keeps having to deal with these threats though.

Ah that's more similar than I thought it would be and that part about the prince doesn't really matter since it's only mentioned in the comics themselves and never elaborated on in other media
