Also, a complete aside, but I'm not sure that Victorian England, Renaissance Italy, The American Revolution, The Golden Age of Piracy, or The French Revolution really constitute 'ancient'.

New one is in 49 bce, during Ptolemaic period. The story actually involves Cleopatras rise.

Yes, I know, I was just pointing out that setting it entirely in 'ancient' times would also mean abandoning all those other settings.

Watch Dogs is such an odd game. It doesn't really know what it wants to be. Are you a vigilante or a criminal? Well in WD you're both. Aiden barely makes sense as a character. It's not a terrible game (I quite like the hacking stuff) but it feels like a game that is trying to be too many different things instead of focusing on one. It's a diluted and bland experience.

WD2 apparently fixes this and is more focused with your motivations and also seems to have a unique personality.

WD2 was far worse in that regard, to be honest. I really couldn't buy into a group of quirky, oddball hacker types breaking into corporate offices and murdering security guards. At least Aiden had an appropriate back story to excuse/justify his methods. How Marcus and the rest of them go from peaceful protests via graffiti and t-shirt designs to mass homicide caused a complete disconnect for me.

Yup, the "modern time" sections of those games are always shit, pissed me off so much in black flag.

It seems like a ubisoft issue though, the mario rabbids games also tries to explain the cross-over through pseudo-science and it's so fucking cringe.
