Someone might love their coursework in bachelor's, but drop out of a PhD program within the first year. Not because they weren't 'good enough', but because it's a very different thing. Thankfully, for most people who get into science PhD programs have had research experience that parallels PhD work. But I don't know if that's the case with philosophy.
