It's absolutely nothing like the rest of the games. Why would you put it in the poll?

Well Mario is in it, and it's a 2D platformer, and it's like 20 years old, so I think it qualifies.

I think I figured it out. Since Mario 2 was originally an entirely different game, it doesn't count. And Lost Levels (2 in japan) was really more like a level pack than its own game.

ITs pretty flimsy. But its the only way his statement could make sense.

I like Mario Bros. 2 better than Lost Levels/The real Mario bros 2 because you have multiple characters and it's tons easier.

I like Yoshies Island cause of the music.

But overall, I like Super Mario World the best. I don't hate any of the mario games. I just like one game more than the other.

When it came out, I would have called it a Mario game, but now I'd call it a Yoshi game. Maybe it can be both? It kind of bridges the gap. However, I don't think most people would call later Yoshi's Island games Mario games, and they have Baby Mario in them too. Also, it makes sense to say it's the start of the Yoshi franchise, but it's not like that made it the end point for Mario games, so there's not really a reason to keep calling it a Mario game.
