i look things up with google flights and then go through the airlines

if you have AMA their flights you can book are often very cheap and I have even had better flight connections through them than other places.

Kayak for flights (which often just redirects to whatever airline's website) and typically AirBnB for housing. I sometimes use Hostelworld when I'm traveling solo.
