The old c-buttons on the N64 controller were ok for strafing back and forth, but with the x box controller they changed it to the right joystick and it's awful....every time I try to strafe left or right, I change guns (up and down on the same joystick)...

...and the controls are the most important part of the game, considering the game is so fucking difficult

Even Perfect Dark with a 360 controller seemed weird to me. I wanted to play it again, but I downloaded the XBLA demo version and it just didn't feel right, so I didn't bother with the full version

That one isn't so bad. They even remade it for HD and widescreen, but for most of the N64 games (including Gemini) they kept the same awful looking 64 port

I think I could have gotten used to it, but it just felt too odd for me to go further. If I did play it on there, I'd probably almost never aim, but the game isn't really designed for an always-centered reticle like Halo. And the manual aiming just felt off no matter what I set it to; the notorious stiffness of the N64 controller seemed to actually play in its favor there. Also it's really hard to pull off that strafe-walking move with a stick instead of C-buttons, which is essential to unlocking a lot of the cheats.

I'm glad I still have my beloved N64 hooked up. :)
