The updates can't be that frequent, can they? I don't know why this message needs to appear every time I boot up my computer, especially since it means taking a longer time to start everything. Does anybody else keep getting this message?

Every day (when I turn it on), and I don't know to the second question.

It means to say it's checking for updates.

Mine does it too even though it's not set to auto-launch, it gives me that window every time I load it up. Reinstalling didn't fix it so I have no clue what the cause is.

this, it does that every time steam starts up. and if i'm not mistaken TC it sounds like you have Steam set to auto-launch on startup.

I have the same thing as tc, my steam isn't auto starting, i close my pc when i'm done, and i'm not in beta.

It has nothing to do with auto startup.
