There are a lot of stupid people in my area of NY here, voting for Trump because they think he is going to somehow lower their taxes.

Now, between this and the threatened elimination of the SALT deduction, our taxes could go up -- THOUSANDS of dollars!

And they'd vote for him again!

Lol401k

Just invest in companies directly like normal people.

tax benefits and employer matching, how does it work?

I like how the biggest benefit you can think of of the 401k is exactly what the cuts will give people anyway.

Yeah, they will still get them, up to the new lowly limit that would be allowed under the proposed law. Use your head, dum dum

at his income level i would expect he only uses a roth. no point in deferring income that's taxed at a mere 15%.

i am curious what percentage mal was wrong by in suggesting that the middle class pays estate tax.

median household wealth is presently $81,400.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wealth_in_the_United_States#Wealth_distribution

I estimate 679%.

no, it doesn't. they regularly increase contribution limits as the years go on. it's standard.

it doesn't mean that the topic at hand isn't still being talked about

that is about the standard inflation-adjusted 401k contribution limit system that is presently in place

this topic is about a political action planned by the republican congress to change the entire 401k system in order to shift tax burden from corporations and the very rich to the middle and upper middle class.

because the plan has not been enacted, existing investment advice sources are only tracking the current, in-place system.

it does not contradict this subject in any way, shape, or form.
