Considering what you got banned for on LL TC, you should not be allowed around children.

There are people that find love in their 50s. This isn't a race people. You're not going to hit some random age that says it's too late for you.

That being said, you're also not going to find someone while living the same routine you're living now. If all you do is go to work and sit at home, you're not going to magically find someone.

How did you meet your SO?

I had never been great socially and when people would invite me places, my default response would be no for whatever made up excuse I could come up with. I never was the one to initiate things with my friends either.

That was most of my life right into a period of depression I had. Downturn in my life for numerous reasons. At one point during that period, I decided to start forcing myself to be more social. I would go out of my way to invite people to do things. People that I would speak to on FB but never hang out with in person, I decided to correct that and set up in person meet ups. People would start inviting me places now. Not just simple things like going out to dinner but to run with the running club, go see a roller derby game in a small town an hour away, go to a bar, etc. (Side note, I thought I'd hate the bar but turns out my friend was playing his first acoustic show there. What luck!) Things that I never would have said yes to in the past but now going to. Not everything I enjoyed but some stuff I had a blast doing and met a lot of cool people.

I'm giving you all this preface so the real story doesn't sound like she fell into my lap or anything. I made plans with my cousin to go to Chicago to watch my friend graduate from Navy boot camp. A week later he tells me that he forgot he already told his best friend(who hated me at the time) that he'd go to Memphis to a music festival. These two trips overlapped by a day but he asked me if I'd be willing to do both. "Drive from Virginia to Chicago to Memphis and back home in 5 days? You're crazy." Then I thought for a minute...."fuck it. Let's do it." It was insane to me but there wasn't a reason to not do it.

Anyways, to fast forward, I spent the next 5 days in a car and strange cities with my cousin and his best friend. I connected with her and on the way home I made another bold move by asking her out. If she said no then whatever, no big deal. I'll just move on. She said yes, and now we've been married for almost 4 years.

You're still in your 30s. I knew someone growing up who's parents were 60 when they had her.

Yep, the 30+ chicks I've hooked up within Canada and the US over the last 16 years (lost my virginity at 16) don't count. Nope, don't count at all.

I don't really want to be dead while they're still children. I feel like about 40 is the cut off point, and I'm certain there's no way I can get there by then.

If you keep putting self imposed restrictions on yourself then you'll never get anywhere in life. We can all die at anytime.
