I just don't get it. I don't understand why the Switch is apparently such a popular console. Why?

I've been gaming since the first NES, and I've literally bought every Nintendo console made, except for the Switch. The Wii U had a better line up so far. The only, and I repeat only game that I would buy is Mario Odyssey, which does indeed look amazing.

Other than that, I don't get it. There are no exclusives. Everything can be played on other consoles that we already own.

I'm not a Nintendo hater. I like Nintendo. I want them to do good. I want their console to succeed.

I just don't get it man.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the list of exclusives for Wii U at this point was;
- Nintendoland
- New Super Mario Bros U
- ZombiU
- Rabbids Land

I think that's it. Pikmin 3 would still be 2-3 months away.

It drew in people who skipped Wii U with Zelda, and even some who already had a Wii U. Same with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. It's a cool little system and good word of mouth spread about it. Now SMO is coming out which looks to be pretty amazing and should make the Switch a hot Christmas item.

lots actually if you count laptops.

There are also several that are multiplat with Vita or 3DS such as Fate/Extella, Fire Emblem Warriors, etc. There are even a few phone ports like Oceanhorn.

Zelda is also playable on Wii U, but it's much nicer on Switch because of how you can stop and start it immediately, bypassing the system loading. And for portability.

BTW that list is missing games. Rocket League is coming out in the next month or two but isn't listed on that page.
